  • Overview

    This role works directly with various commercial managed program functions and the pursuit teams to develop win strategies for complex countertop and surfacing projects.


    The Head Estimator is responsible for guiding pursuit teams in the development of bid packages to answer owners’ SOQ/RFP documents. This position must work effectively in a team environment, have strong planning and organizational skills and motivate the people around them to deliver bids in an ethical and award-winning fashion.  


    • Oversee and approve all estimation and take-off documents
    • Establish and maintain the material and labor estimates delivery schedule and coordinate activities with the estimating and regional development team members to effectively manage team resources
    • Participate in the development of proposals and support regional team with all necessary information and assistance
    • Work with the Contract Manager and support construction project pre-qualification process to ensure compliance of bids. Be familiar with all SOQ/RFP requirements and ensure that proposals are compliant
    • Provide a high-quality work product
    • Effectively communicate and interact with other team members
    • Develop proposal resume and past project experience content
    • Create proposal content story boards, especially with regards to projects pricing, assist proposal content providers in their effort to delivery high-scoring narratives and graphical content
    • Maintain archives of all proposal related information: prepared, won and lost


    • Proven ability to read plans and drawings of large scale construction projects and produce quality take-offs for the surfaces portion of the project
    • Proven high level competency with Slabsmith or similar CNC design software knowledge
    • Ability to work under time deadlines; ability to work under pressure
    • Ability to support proposal development efforts on large teams with multiple firms
    • Knowledge of best practices to achieve winning proposals
    • Strong interpersonal and team communication skills
    • Ability to effectively manage toward a deadline with multiple competing resources
    • Ability to work on a team in a collaborative environment
    • Ability to be self-sufficient while adhering to best practices
    • Provide a high-quality work product and be detail-oriented
    • Flexibility in managing multiple projects in a changing timeline and environment

    Education and/or Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent on-the-job experience
    • 10+ years of estimation in and combined proposal management in the construction industry
